Just Words is a word puzzle game similar to the classic Scrabble tabletop board game. The player earns as many points as possible by using letter tiles to create words before they run out of tiles or both players pass their turns.
The player competes against the computer or another online player at an easy, medium or expert difficulty level. If they select the player-versus-player option, they must complete their turns quickly. The other player can boot them from a game if they take too much time.
The main screen features the players' details on the left side and a word-formation area. On the right side, it presents a board that displays a mix of marked and unmarked empty spaces. Dots act like multipliers that double or triple the points associated with any letter tile. The player also receives additional points if they use six letters at a time.
The player can drag and drop letters or use a keyboard. After they create a word, they drag and drop it onto the board. They or their opponent must place the first word of the game at the center of the board. They must then use at least one letter already on the board to complete new words. If they need to remove their word, they select the red X button.
Just Words allows the player to exchange tiles as long as six remain in their bag, shuffle tiles to reveal new words, and pass on their turn. At the end of a game, each player receives double points based on the value of the letters in their opponent's hand.
