Fish Love is a pull-the-pin logic puzzle game that requires a player to use their knowledge of gravity, precision timing and strategic planning to help two trapped goldfish find love across 26 levels. The game features underground tunnels and pipe systems that one or both fish must navigate to reunite. The player helps them navigate the correct corridors and defeat deadly black bombs, red crabs and hot lava.
As with all pull-the-pin games, the player really doesn't need to do anything other than pull golden pins that block the route of a fish. They also need to click or tap to slide green pins into new spots to create walls that protect the fish against threats or help them reach each other faster.
The most important aspect of the game is the player's understanding of the natural world. The game displays realistic movements of flowing liquids and substances and the rolling of round objects. A pipe with a green arrow leads automatically to a pipe with a red one. Of course, the player must guess the correct pipe to select for the fish.
The player might also need to drop a bomb or lava on a crab or a bomb on lava. That said, unlike many similar games, they can't use water to cool the lava enough to make it safe.
Fish Love doesn't punish the player for failure. They can restart a level without bumping back to the first one.
