Enchanted Waters is an endless, run game that tasks a player with assisting an onscreen character with running on platforms that float in various water environments. An environment might feature a daylight pond scene with stairs leading nowhere, water pouring out of pipes from above, and floating ducks and flowers, or a darker ocean scene that reveals seaweed and the silhouettes of jellyfish, sharks, schools of fish and other marine life.
The character starts running automatically the moment the player accesses the run screen. The player can't steer the character or make it perform any action other than jumping over gaps between platforms. Since the character runs fast, the player must interact with the game screen rapidly to make it jump or double jump. The double jump adds both height and distance to a jump. If the player interacts with the screen too long or not long enough, the character falls into the water, and the game ends.
Thankfully, Enchanted Waters offers free retries. The player isn't penalized or required to pay money to try again. This is a great bonus because the game's artwork and magic-based elements make success incredibly difficult. The character's speed isn't the only obstacle. It's hard to judge the distances between platforms. The character might also suddenly disappear because of illusions. Magic portals on the track can decrease the score and send the character to a new environment.
The game offers free coins on the platforms to allow the player to buy different characters and randomly selected boosters to improve the run.
