Bubble Shooter Dark Mode, also known as Magic Gems, is a match-3 bubble-shooting game with a dark gradient black background broken into sections with glowing blue borders. The player's goal is to earn the most points while clearing the playfield.
The player initially attempts to remove nine 17-bubble rows. They receive five non-match opportunities, as represented by silver bubbles to the left of a classic blue arrow shooter, before the game adds a new row of bubbles to the field. The player bursts and removes bubbles by shooting a bubble projectile of one color at two or more connected bubbles that match its color. They lose a silver bubble every time they fail to pop bubbles with a shot.
Bubble Shooter Dark Mode starts the player at Novice level. Over time, if the player earns enough points, they rank on a leaderboard that they can access via a golden gem button marked with a trophy.
The player increases their points by removing as many bubbles as possible in a connected matching line with one shot or an "avalanche" of connected matching and non-matching bubbles underneath the line. The player's total score doubles when they clear the field entirely.
