The hose then closes again and the balls meet each other. If these again form a combination of 3 or more, they go away for extra points. Hit or Knit is an endless bubble-popping game in the Zuma category. It features a cat that can't sleep because a mouse keeps waking it by turning balls of yarn into toy trains. From level to level, the player helps the cat destroy these trains by directing it to throw yarn balls at each one. When a projectile ball matches two side-by-side train balls, the cluster bursts like bubbles. The players earn points. They also collect floating pieces that match the cat's head.
The mouse attempts to push the yarn ball train into a hole in the floor or ground partially covered with a knitted object and knitting needles. If the train reaches the hole, the player loses. They must then start over from the first level. If they return to the main screen, the game treats the action as equivalent to losing a level.
Hit or Knit offers powerful boosters inside some balls, such as a stop sign that pauses the movement of the train and a rainbow ball that matches any color. The player uses these powers by creating a cluster that contains a power ball.
Unlike many Zuma games, the player can hit the train while throwing yarn balls at cat heads. Instead of dissolving, a projectile sometimes adds an extra ball to the train.
