Geo Dash 2 is the second installment in a geometry-based, running-themed side scroller based on the Geometry Dash games. The player helps multiple anthropomorphic geometric shapes find their way through complex levels filled with obstacles and traps. As with the first game, Geo Dash 2 features five worlds with dozens of challenging logic- and physics-based levels.
The player starts out by helping a yellow block with blue eyes. Unlike the first game, this character is angry as it slides along the path. The player directs it to dash upward, forward, flip and fly through the air. In certain areas where gravity stops working, the player also helps it drop.
In every scenario, the player must prevent the yellow block and other characters from sliding into walls or falling against sharp points and other dangerous objects. The game features glowing vertical gates that change the characters automatically. As a result, the player might need to quickly learn how to direct the movements of a block character that acts differently than the yellow block. For example, a character might roll on four corners instead of sliding flat along the path.
Whenever the player makes a mistake, the level ends immediately. They then start the level over entirely.
Geo Dash 2 continues the tradition of helping a player gauge the distance to the finish area. It supplies a horizontal bar with a green progress fill line and a white percentage number. It also provides a streak or trail behind a character and highlights the blocks that make up the path.
