Garden Tales 4 is the next installment in the ever-popular Garden Tales match-3 puzzle series. Willy the garden gnome continues to need help with collecting plants and performing garden tasks.
The player must match three or more identical garden objects (i.e., berries, leaves, mushrooms and pears) or collect or destroy related items (i.e., fruit baskets and blocks of dirt) on horizontal and vertical paths on a checkerboard. For example, they might need to collect 10 strawberries and crush 20 blocks of dirt. They might need to break ice blocks around objects before they can complete a task. When the player does well, they receive up to three stars, points and coins.
Garden Tales 4 has boosters. With a Line Blast, the player can remove a horizontal or vertical line without matching any objects. A Cross Blast removes a row and column on the board at the same time. A Spiral Bomb removes all objects that match the one the player swaps with it.
The player can also combine boosters to create even more powerful ones. For example, if they swap two Spiral Bombs, the game clears away all objects with one move. Other boosters include an option that removes a single object from the board and one that swaps the positions of two objects. The player can also use coins to activate and buy these boosters.
The game supplies the player with cash winnings via a prize wheel and free money in treasure chests.
