China Mahjong is a relaxing tile-matching game based on traditional Mahjong. It offers pleasant, soothing music to enhance play across 82 levels of unique layered tile patterns. It includes both traditional Mahjong maps and more modern artwork and symbols related and unrelated to Chinese culture.
As with the classic game, the tiles feature numbers represented by multicolored dots, bamboo pieces and Chinese characters. Bonus tiles display flowers and seasons. With the regular tiles, the player must find and remove pairs with identical images that have at least two unattached sides. That said, these rules don't apply to the bonus tiles. The player can remove those tiles based on category instead of matching imagery.
China Mahjong offers a lot of unique play options. The player can select a new game manually based on the layout pattern of their choice or allow the game to auto-select the pattern. They can also adjust the angle of the displayed tiles to create a more challenging three-dimensional puzzle. An icon with a question mark briefly highlights the location of a matching pair of tiles. If the player runs out of moves, the game automatically shuffles the remaining tiles to reveal new pairs.
The playfield background features China-themed paintings that include nature and manmade objects. During play, the player can use an icon marked with a landscape to change the painting at any time.
