Cat Sorter Puzzle is a sorting game that features different types of cats instead of colors of liquid. The player can select from four modes (i.e., Classic, Meditation, Sticky, Time Mode and Challenges). Each mode offers unique twists on the traditional game. The player wins each level by sorting different breeds and colors of cats into one-breed, one-color stacks on antique, high-backed seats that look somewhat like upside-down test tubes.
With the Classic option, the player sorts the cats to earn gold coins marked with white stars following traditional sorting rules. With Sticky, the player sorts an entire matching group when they select one cat in the group. With Time Mode, they complete the sorting within a specific timeframe, such as 12 seconds, as noted at the bottom-center of the screen. With Challenges, they complete tasks to earn three stars. They can only unlock all areas of the Challenges mode by completing a specific number of Classic levels.
Cat Sorter Puzzle makes play more difficult in various ways. In some levels, the player receives seats of different heights, which means they must first determine the smallest number of cats of one breed and color and sort accordingly. Additionally, some levels require the player to sort cats onto specific chairs based on the color of the seat cushions.
The player uses their coins to perform cat and chair upgrades. They can also purchase up to nine different backgrounds. They receive opportunities to earn more coins via a daily bonus and cat-shaped treasure chests.
