Balloons Rhombics, sometimes known as Bubble Rhombics, is a bubble shooter that offers unconventional bubble-popping play. Instead of presenting the player with hanging horizontal lines of bubbles against the game's dark blue background, it displays a rhombus pattern made of different mixed-colored, bubble-shaped balloons resting atop and between rows of gray hexagons. Each side of the geometric pattern has four rows. The player shoots projectile balloons from the center of the shape at the balloons in these rows. Their goal is to remove all bubble balloons from the field with the fewest moves possible.
Each colored projectile that appears one-by-one at the center of the rhombus releases tiny bubbles in pulses in a line. These targeting bubbles start large and grow smaller as they float away from it. The player uses their cursor to direct this line to aim the shot. They don't need to perform match-3 play, as seen with other bubble-popping shooter games. They can pop a standalone balloon or clusters made of a large number of linked balloons.
Bubble Rhombics features avalanche play. In traditional bubble shooters, any bubbles below a popped line or cluster also pop and disappear, no matter their color. In this game, the player can perform avalanches with any bubbles closest to the center of the shape.
The game provides a preview of the next projectile in the lower-left area and the number of used moves in the upper-left area.
