Bubble Buster H.D. is a bubble-shooting game in which the player's actions prompt an industrial worker in a yellow construction hard hat to pull levers to reposition and fire a cannon. The player quickly removes bubbles from a playfield using bubble projectiles that roll through a metal tube into the cannon. When the player shoots the cannon at two or more connected bubbles that match the projectile, all of the connected matching ones burst. The game features a more traditional cannon with a metal pointer arrow. It also offers a dotted white targeting line to direct a projectile's movement with even greater accuracy.
The player can select Random Mode or Arcade Mode with a Turn-Based or Time-Based option. The Random Mode increases the number of bubbles and the speed of their drop with each new level of 100 levels of play. The Arcade Mode presents the levels with increasingly difficult patterns. The player earns a credit for every five completed levels. They can also use a Level Select button to see the pattern of bubbles for each level on a mini preview screen. With the Turn-based option, the game shifts bubbles down the screen automatically when the player shoots a projectile. With Time-Based one, it shifts the bubbles at preset intervals.
Bubble Shooter H.D. displays the score, round and time with green digital numbers on the right side of the screen. The left side displays a horizontal tube with the number of credits below it. The player must never allow the tube to fill with green fluid. If the player completes a level fast enough, they receive a time bonus.
