Barbiecore is a dress-up game that focuses on the modern fashion trend of women, men, girls and boys dressing in styles that reflect the Mattel Barbie product line. Barbiecore primarily features pink or pastel colors and beach, summer and retro clothing and jewelry styles.
Although a young woman in the game thinks her makeup is tasty and says she only needs the player to help her select fashions to go with it, the player is presented with four locked areas, including a makeup zone. The first area allows them to change her eye shadow, mascara, lipstick and blush. They can also add decorative fake tattoos or rhinestones to her face.
The player then helps the character select clothing, jewelry, a handbag and eyewear. The third unlocked area allows them to select casual outdoor wear, including a bathing suit, shorts, roller skates, elbow guards, a helmet and jewelry. Within all of these zones, the player must watch an advertisement to receive access to every item.
Barbiecore's fourth unlocked area gives the player a photoshoot option. They can download electronic images of the makeup, daywear and casual wear and the background imagery that appeared behind the character each time. They can share the styles with their friends or use the images in a personal makeup and fashion book created to inspire them with Barbicore trends for their own life.
