Mahjong Real, sometimes referred to as Mahjong Combi, is a tile-matching game based on Chinese Mahjong. It features 18 classic layered puzzles with images pulled directly from the original game printed on ivory-colored tiles, including green, red and blue dots or stones, bamboo sticks, dragon symbols, various flowers and the four seasons.
The game challenges a player to remove all of the tiles from a wood tabletop as quickly as possible. They can only remove two matching tiles at a time. To make it easier for the player to find identical tiles, this version of the game displays a number on each tile that matches the number of items on it. For example, a tile with three stones displays a number 3 as well.
The top left corner of the screen features a timer that simply tracks the amount of time it takes for the player to solve the puzzle. The area to the right of the clock displays the number of pairs at any given time. The player can only select and remove identical uncovered tiles. When they select tiles, the first tile temporarily turns bright green.
Unlike many online Mahjong games, Mahjong Real supplies the player with unlimited hints and tile shuffles to help them find pairs. When the player uses the Hint button, a pair of identical tiles flash purple. When they use the Mix button, the tiles shift positions on the table.
