Homescapes is a pull-the-pin game with a romance theme. A man is attempting to reach a dark-haired woman trapped in a green garden hedge maze. The woman, whom he loves and hopes to marry, can't escape because of barriers and threats between her and the entry/exit area of the maze. The man needs the player's help to bypass various threats to reach her.
The player pulls golden pins to slide barriers out of the way and perform other actions. For example, they might need to pull a pin to unleash water from a large container onto a fire blocking the man's path. They might need to pull a pin to remove a barrier that's preventing the man from escaping certain death from rotating serrated blades or large spiked presses.
The game also features dangerous dogs and muscular criminals with knives. In some cases, the player can only help the man by removing a barrier between these threats to force them to attack each other or send them into an area with a bear trap, explosives or flying giant arrows.
Homescapes isn't a complex game. The player merely needs to review each scene carefully and use a bit of common sense. If they perform well, the man reaches the woman, drops down on one knee, and pulls out a bouquet of roses.
It's important to note that some areas of the game glitch. As a result, the player might need to select a barrier rather than the pin attached to it to make it slide out of the way.
