Goober Game is a Suika-style merge game. The player's task is to create a future workforce to make the lives of humans better by using Goober Dynamics' Goober Acceleration Technology. The player drops the heads of Goobers into a container. They merge pairs of matching heads to create new and larger ones.
The player must take physics into account when dropping the heads into the container. The heads might drop like stones or shake and bounce around in different directions. The quality of a drop depends on the refresh rate of the player's display. According to the developer, a higher rate equals a better result.
The game displays the next head available for a drop near the top-right corner on a monitor. It displays the score on a digital display sign and the highest tracked score on a white paper underneath it.
As with other similar games, Goober Game ends play the moment the player allows the heads to pile up too close to the top of the container. It warns them of an impending problem by displaying a flashing red horizontal warning line.
