Bob the Robber 5: The Temple Adventure, the fifth installment of the popular arcade strategy puzzle platformer series, follows Bob after his international crime spree. During his burglaries, Bob discovered a map to a hidden treasure deep in a tropical jungle. Tired of running from the law, he decides it's time to try his luck robbing temples. After all, the dead won't notice, right?
Bob replaces his standard prison gear and green cap with treasure hunter clothing and a miner's lamp, and then flies to the remote jungle. The player's goal is to help Bob burglarize ruins in search of ancient statues, cut jewels, golden coins and other valuable items.
Yet Bob hasn't thought this through entirely. The temples have modern guards and security in addition to mystical beings and a variety of traps. The player must help Bob hide in the shadows from guards, shamans, witch doctors, mummies, cameras and other threats; knock out some enemies from behind; use a lockpick to open padlock shanks; wait for guards carrying guns to fall asleep; and stop witch doctors from pushing alarm buttons. They also direct Bob to use stairs and modern elevators; snip wires to alarms and laser walls; search for door codes on pieces of paper and computers; and sneak past guards with red headbands.
Bob the Robber 5 features a wider selection of gadgets to help the player and Bob beyond his handy lockpick and wire cutters. New gadgets include sandals and a bullwhip. The whip helps the player, via Bob, procure items on the other side of spiked sections of floors.
