Tropical Vacation Destination is a dress-up game in which a player helps a young model who wants to look her best while vacationing in three topical locations (the Maldives, Bali and Bora Bora). The player must select beachwear and accessories for each vacation spot.
The first leg of the trip takes the girl to the Maldives. The player selects the girl's two-piece bikini swimsuit, a hairstyle, and a flower piece of headwear. They also select a pool float in the shape of a heart or hearts or a summertime dessert. In Bali, the model needs beachwear that looks great both on the beach and while dining nearby. The player selects a swimsuit, hairstyle, sarong, hat and jewelry. Lastly, in Bora Bora, the model wants a surfing look. The player selects a swimsuit, beach towel and surfboard.
If the player needs help, they can use a shuffle button marked with two arrows to prompt the game to select fashion pieces and create a look. The game also locks some items. If the player wants to use them on the model, they must watch an advertisement. That said, the player doesn't need to use an item from every category. For example, they might decide not to give the model a hat or a pool float.
Tropical Vacation Destination provides a fun photoshoot option without a camera button. It displays the character in each outfit against a background. The player can change the background at any time. They then use a download button to save a snapshot to their computer or other device.
