Nick Basketball Stars is a fun, competitive-basketball game that pits popular characters from shows that air on Nickelodeon against each other, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The player can pick from a variety of characters to play and two modes: Tournament and Random Match.
In Tournament mode, the first team to reach 21 points before a timer runs out wins the game. In Random Match mode, the goal is the same but the player's character is randomly matched with another character for two-on-two play against another pair of characters. The player must also make a mega dunk.
The player can acquire helpful boosters or pickups during gameplay. For example, they can increase their speed with Bolt, jump higher with Cloud and decrease the speed and jump of an opponent with Poison.
Nick Basketball Stars also features a Hall of Fame area where the player can review their stats, including number of games won, dunks, mega dunks, steals and games played. Additionally, they can print out character posters that they unlock with each mega dunk to display in their bedroom or on their school locker.
How to play:
Grab the basketball and race to reach the team's hoop. Dunk the ball to earn points. Use an attack move to hold onto the ball or steal it from a player on the opposing team. Perform special maneuvers to increase abilities and peform a mega dunk or stop an opponent.
Controls:
Keyboard: Gameplay only works with a keyboard. Press the Left and Right Arrow keys to make the character run and get close enough to the ball to grab it. Press the Up Arrow once to jump and twice to double jump. Press the Spacebar to attack another player. To dunk the ball, move close to the basket, press the Up Arrow, and then press the Spacebar. For a mega dunk, wait for the onscreen gauge to fill with power before jumping and dunking.
Mouse: This game isn't designed to work entirely with a mouse. Click onscreen buttons to make selections, such as to choose a character, turn off sound and start a game.
Mobile: This game isn't designed to work entirely with a touchscreen or trackpad. Tap buttons onscreen to make selections.
