Pool
8-ball is the most common game of billiards. Ball Billards is one of the easiest to pick up. If you're getting into the sport, this is probably where you should start. It's a fun game with a simple objective: sink as many balls in the 8-ball pocket as possible without penalty. Though it might not seem like it, 8-ball is much more challenging than 9-ball or 10-ball because the angles are tight on an 8-foot table. Sinking shots off of one corner requires more precision and awareness than other games with a broader visual field. 8-ball is the most common game of billiards.
How to Play the Game
Place the balls at the bottom of the table, closest to each other.
Place your cue on the table with the cue's tip toward the 8-ball.
Put your non-dominant hand on the cue's shaft and your dominant hand on top of the cue.
Aim the cue at the center of the 8-ball.
Hit the cue ball with your dominant hand, aiming to hit it at a downward angle.
Controls
To play 8-ball, you'll need a cue, a table, and at least eight balls. You can also get by with a rack pool set, but the balls don't all have to be the same weight, essential for this game. You can get a pool table light to light up the table for added convenience. This makes it easier to see the balls and also makes it easier to see where you're aiming. The distance between each ball in the rack is 4.75 inches. The cue ball should be 4.75 inches in diameter and will be used to hit the 8-ball into the pocket.
