Merge Coins is a 2048-style merge game with a sorting element. The player receives access to a white tray that contains colored, numbered coins similar to gambling chips. They must merge ten matching coins at a time to create a higher-numbered coin. Their ultimate goal is to create the highest-numbered coin possible.
The player doesn't merge the coins to create double the original value, as seen with many similar merge games. Instead, every merge of ten coins creates two coins one-higher than the original face value of each coin in the stack. For example, if the player merges a stack of 1 coins, they receive two 2 coins. They don't need to count the coins to know when a merge becomes available. The game encases a stack with a gold, glittering outline.
Merge Coins provides the player with a challenge by setting up the game like a classic colored-liquid sorting game. The player receives new coins with a deal button. The coins appear in any slot, which means the player must rearrange the coins across slots to create a stack of matching ones. That said, they can only transfer matching coins from slot to slot. For example, they can only transfer yellow coins into empty slot spaces in front of other yellow coins.
The game opens up additional slots that can take any color when the player reaches specific milestones. For example, they might need to create two 6 coins before they can open a new slot. The game helps the player by allowing them to free up space in slots by performing multiple merges at the same time when they use the merge button. If the player runs out of room, they can shuffle the coins to create merge stacks by watching an ad video.
