Melty Time is a timed connect-style matching game that features whole desserts instead of classic tiles. The player selects matching pairs of treats in rows or columns of three or more items to remove the desserts from the playfield. They must use caution to prevent a scenario in which they run out of moves.
The game presents the items against a background of melted chocolate. The desserts include a variety of cakes, cupcakes, donuts, fruit tarts, gelatin molds and macaroons.
The player initially selects and removes desserts aligned side by side and stacked on top of each other. When they select one, the item turns white and expands in a pulsating fashion. When they select the matching treat, both items disappear in golden star sparkles.
The game doesn't allow the player to select any items that fail to connect via three or fewer lines along the borders of the playfield or across gaps created among the desserts. If they attempt to use more than three lines, the game turns the desserts red.
Melty Time features boosters that the player can access if they watch ad videos. The Time Stop booster, represented by a clock icon, stops the clock for ten seconds. The Eat booster removes two matching sweet treats automatically from the playfield. If the player runs out of moves, the game prompts them to watch a video to shuffle the remaining desserts.
