Love Tester is a fun multiplayer game of chance that explores compatibility between two people and relationships. Unlike skill-based games, the player doesn't need to achieve anything, complete missions or tasks, or earn rewards. Instead, this game shares similarities with forecasting and prognostication games like the classic Magic 8 Ball.
The main screen displays two horizontal rows of avatar cards. The player picks a character from the top row, or customizes one, and then enters their name. They repeat the same steps with a second character and the name of either their crush or a second player. They use the heart-shaped "Test Love" button to find out if they're compatible.
Love Tester displays a vertical retro film reel of potential worst-case scenarios with left and right arrows pointing at each cell that passes by on the screen. The cells represent different scenarios that test the ability of the two chosen characters to survive hardships based on their amount of love for each other. Scenarios include one person stuck in a tree with dogs below, a laser beam trap about to kill one character wrapped in rope against a wooden beam, and a character losing their hold while climbing a cliffside.
When a scenario plays out, the game then provides the estimated percentage of love remaining after the two characters survive an event in which one must save the other from harm.
