Friday Night Funkin': First Date is a dress-up game based on the popular FNF music game. The Girlfriend and Boyfriend characters have decided to go on a date for the first time after Girlfriend messaged Boyfriend that she was bored and needed something new to do with her night. They need the player's help to prepare them for a night out on the town.
The game starts with the player helping Girlfriend with her clothes, hairstyle, jewelry and other accessories. The game locks one category. The player must watch an advertisement to access it. After they complete and confirm Girlfriend's look, they're prompted to help Boyfriend. They can select his clothes, hairstyle and jewelry. They even receive the option to outfit him with a music-related item, such as a karaoke microphone, a boombox radio, headphones or a guitar. A locked category also exists that is only accessible after the player watches an advertisement.
Once the player completes both outfits, the game places the characters in a nightclub near a stage. As with other games developed by CuteDressUp.com, Friday Night Funkin': First Date doesn't offer an in-game camera option. Players who want to share fashion ideas with friends or save ideas for their own dates must use the screenshot or snip tool on their computer or phone.
