Cat Simulator is a pet simulation game. The player must direct the actions of a domestic house cat responsible for catching rats and handling house emergencies while the owners of a two-room home are away. They must also make the cat regularly drink, eat, sharpen its claws and sleep.
The game rewards the player with gold coins every time they catch a rat or save the house from damage. It also offers an intermittent option to earn additional money by watching an ad.
The rats move extremely fast. The player must watch and time the movements and patterns of a rat to place the cat directly in its path at the right time. They must also contend with the onscreen controls used with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen. The overlay features a giant white circle that often covers the cat's body, which makes it difficult to see when directing it around the house.
The home features many interactive objects, such as milk and food bowls, a scratching post and a bucket. Each area only unlocks when the player has enough money. For example, the player must pay five coins to use one of the bowls.
Cat Simulator offers dress-up items as well. The player can purchase six pieces of headwear for the cat, including a golden crown, a black top hat, and a striped sleep cap. They can also change the cat's appearance to nine other breeds.�
