Sumo.io by DRA is a minimalist, multiplayer, fighting game that pits players as funny, non-human, sumo wrestling characters against one another in various themed settings. A player's primary objective is to become the biggest, strongest sumo champion and push other players into water surrounding a battle royale, combat arena in a real-time, free-for-all.
In Sumo.io, a player earn coins after every victory, which they can then use to mod their character's appearance and upgrade personal weaponry. The player can change a sumo's body color, eyes, head, mouth, adornment, gloves and tail. For example, for 5,000 coins, a player can add horns to their sumo's head or replace its basic boxing gloves with round, spiked maces.
The game features two modes: Classic and Epic. In Classic mode, the player fights using basic maneuvers and with few obstacles in a large, uniquely shaped arena. To win, the player's sumo must successfully push all other players into the water, grow their character's strength and size with every success and continue to win across different rounds. In Epic Mode, the arena shrinks in size. The player must win more rounds and play through leagues to become the ultimate sumo winner.
