Sugar Rush is a casual, bridge-building game with an IO battle-arena theme. Players from around the world compete to make their unique characters reach a portal at the end of each competition area. The arenas float in the sky like islands. Empty rails connect each one. A player must collect striped candies from the first arena to use as planks on the rails to reach the next one faster. The avatar that reaches the portal first wins the game.
The player starts by customizing their avatar's head, face, body, hands and tail. After each game, they receive stars that they can use to upgrade these areas for the next game. They can also perform upgrades after watching a certain number of advertisements. At the end of the game, they can double their coins by watching an ad as well. They can upgrade the color of their avatar's skin for free.
Sugar Rush doesn't make reaching the portal easy. The avatar can only reach the next island if they use a bridge made of candies that match their skin color. Other players can knock any of their collected candies to the ground. They can also use their candies to change the color of the player's bridge. Of course, the player can do the same to them. Lastly, if the player directs their avatar too close to a hole or gap, it falls into the open air.
