Penalty Shooters 3 is the third installment of the popular Penalty Shooters sports game series. The player, as a soccer kicker or goalie, attempts to score the most points for their team via penalty play in Tier Challenge and World Cup modes.
The player can't participate in the World Cup unless they complete all matchups within the six Tier Challenge levels. They pay a fee from their starting 1,000 gold coins to enter the first match. The game places their fee and that of their opponent into a pot. Whoever wins the match uses the money to pay fees for other matches. They also receive gold trophies that eventually help them to unlock tiers.
The player starts by selecting a team name from 252 available fantasy names and team uniform colors, with or without jersey stripes. After they pick a mode, they play as kicker and goalie, depending on their turn during a match.
Penalty Shooters 3 also features an achievement reward system. The player starts out with five gems. They receive additional gems every time they complete an achievement (i.e., first career goal, first career save, first career match win, five consecutive days of play, and match win without missing a shot). They use the gems to buy powerups that help them win matches.
