Stormy Kicker is a sports game in which the player, via their onscreen avatar, serves as a soccer striker. Their primary objective is to score as many goals as possible by heading or penalty-kicking the ball into the opposing team's net. The game also focuses on matches leading up to the World Cup. As a result, the player must pick a country and win multiple matches displayed as brackets.
The player doesn't have to direct their avatar to make a lot of different moves to win. They also don't need to direct any other players on the field. Instead, they wait for the ball to fly through the air from the side of the screen along a path marked with yellow dots. They head or kick the ball at the exact moment it passes through a red crosshair target.
Stormy Kicker sounds easy and straightforward. Yet, the player must have perfect timing and hand-eye coordination to score goals, win a match, continue on to additional matches, and eventually the World Cup. The game provides a practice tutorial to train the player. It also gives them a lot of balls to reach the target number of goals for the match.
That said, the game's AI can block a ball before it ever reaches the net. The player might also hit the ball outside of the net entirely. If the player loses a match, the game automatically finishes all the other matches and reveals the World Cup winner.
