Craft Drill is a drilling and mining simulation game with a crafting element. The player's goal is to extract raw materials, such as rock, coal, iron and gemstones, from the ground on multiple islands using a drill hanging from a rope. As they earn money by selling and hauling away the materials in trucks, they can upgrade the drill from a basic engine with wooden attachments capable of only reaching a specific depth to a more complex piece of equipment that can displace earth and other materials deep underground.
The player starts with $500 to make a basic adjustment to the existing drill. As the drill drops into the earth, the wooden attachments tear up the soil and rock and deposit wanted materials onto a conveyor belt that moves toward the surface and fills a waiting truck via a hopper. With the revenues from the sale, the player can upgrade the engine, the length of the rope, the attachments and other parts of the operation. For example, they can replace the wooden attachments with metal shovels and, eventually, various pickaxes. They can also invest in a drill hammer to dislodge larger rocks.
Craft Drill offers extra ways to earn money. The player can spin a lucky wheel or open a treasure chest to receive free coins and explosive dynamite charges.
