Fleeing the Complex is a choose-your-own-adventure and deception stickman game from the popular Henry Stickmin series. The expert escape artist and thief has been kidnapped and taken to The Wall complex, a supermax-style detention facility and prison designed for criminals of his notoriety. The player must help Henry make the right decisions while attempting to block the game's attempts to deceive them. The game features multiple positive and negative endings.
The player receives several options to choose from during each step of the escape from The Wall. Some of these opportunities lead to positive endings. That said, the majority of selections lead to failures. If the player makes the wrong choice, they can use a map that shows their previous decisions to make different choices without starting over from the beginning of the story.�
For example, Henry finds himself stuck in a waiting area with criminal Ellie Rose. He can choose to take her with him, use her to escape or leave her behind. Whatever choice the player makes dictates the next steps and options and even the ending of the story. The same is true if the player decides to direct Henry to seek help from the Toppat Clan.
Fleeing the Complex presents complex logic puzzles deceptively as easy choices. For example, if the player directs Henry to play dead, a logical choice, the player fails because they never considered what the staff at The Wall does with dead bodies. They must consider many possible outcomes in every scene before making their choice.
As with other games in the series, this game rewards the player with medals for certain achievements, such as reaching specific character ranks, finding all 60 unique fails, listening to a song linked to the credits, finding Waldo and unlocking the mystery achievements.
