Poptropica is an educational adventure role-playing game with fantasy and real-world elements. Although originally designed for children, players of all ages enjoy the energetic, detailed artwork, challenging and interesting puzzles, and mystery and exploration themes. The player's goals are to visit and explore islands and complete missions.
As a guest or logged-in user, the player selects an avatar and upgrades its appearance. Over time, they can customize it with various costumes and even super powers. The game uses non-player-character guides that the player must direct their avatar to speak with to assign them side quests during their exploration of each island. Icons and text prompts help the player make decisions about where to go next and what actions to take along the way.�
Poptropica features plenty of fun extras. The player receives a house and access to an arcade. In the latter area, they can change their avatar's emotion with emojis, add emoticon thought bubbles above its head, and play other players in one-on-one matches. Poptropica also has a lot of interesting shops and mini, non-task-related adventures.
