Betrayal.io is a multiplayer social deduction game similar to Among Us. It's designed for between six and 12 players. The player can join a public lobby. They can also create a private area and invite friends and family. They can experience the game as a guest or set up an account. Players with accounts can save their progress, avatar changes and gear upgrades.
The player becomes one of four types of crew members who perform specific tasks to win. As a general crewmate, they complete assigned tasks, fix anything disrupted by a betrayer, report murders and vote out betrayers during real-time, chat-based meetings. They try not to get killed by a betrayer in the core mode or by a betrayer and a monster in the hide-and-seek mode. Some players are betrayers who perform fake tasks, disrupt things, use vents to sneak around, kill crewmates and do everything possible to prevent a vote against them.
The game also allows players to act as sheriffs who hunt down and kill betrayers while completing the same goals as general crewmates. Lastly, a player can play a jester. Their goal is to trick the crew into thinking that they're a betrayer and vote them out. They must also try to hide from actual betrayers and sheriffs.
Betrayal.io features a lot of fun quests, rewards and opportunities for incredibly engaging and interactive play. Beyond chat, there's also a voice mode for logged-in users.
