Snail Bob, also known as Snail Bob 1, is a fun arcade adventure and logic puzzle platformer with construction, physics and runner themes. Bob was a peaceful snail who enjoyed spending his time relaxing in his quiet little home until humans with massive excavators tore through it and tossed him into the wild. Bob must find a new home somewhere amidst all the construction.
The player makes selections in each of the game's 20 levels to open up blocked paths to help Bob make it safely through construction sites. Many of these pathways feature deadly obstacles, such as electrical sparks, ice or fire, missing bridges, and falling molten steel. To open up the next site, Bob must reach a yellow pipe marked with an exit sign.
Bob moves automatically unless the player stops him. The player bypasses obstacles using a mix of onscreen hints, common sense, logic and knowledge about gravity and physics. For example, they might adjust a lever to activate a bridge or press arrow buttons to move a construction object to a specific position. If the player performs well, they receive points and up to three stars.
Snail Bob gives the player plenty of assistance. The game surrounds interactive elements with clockwise-rotating dashed white lines. With each new level, it presents a physical drawing of the next construction site on the Level Map screen. If the player performs poorly, it doesn't require them to spend money or earn points. They start over with the click or tap of a button.
