Snail Bob 7, or Snail Bob: Fantasy Story, is the next fun adventure in the popular Snail Bob logic-puzzle platformer series. After reading about the Middle Ages with Ant resting nearby, Bob goes to bed. Shortly after he falls asleep, a mysterious force pulls his bed into another realm near a giant castle. Bob must defeat a three-headed dragon to return home. The player's mission is to help Bob survive obstacles, traps and enemies barring his path to the dragon across 30 levels. They must then help Bob defeat it.
The player directs Bob to speed up, stop moving or turn around on the path. Threats include bees, giant spiders, snail-eating plants, ghosts and mythic monsters. The player must take control of basic and complicated machines and solve problems in each scene by using their common sense and knowledge of science in combination with direct action upon objects and characters. They usually need to flip levers, push buttons and perform similar actions. For example, flipping a lever might lift a door or slide a bridge across a chasm. They also need to use sliding stone platforms with glowing blue rings as tiers and direct Bob's flight after the game transforms him into a bee.
Snail Bob 7 doesn't award points. Instead, it requires the player to search a scene for three stars hidden in the background and within, behind and under things. To find all three stars, they might need to click randomly on objects in ways similar to hidden-object games.
