Snail Bob 6, or Snail Bob: Winter Story, is a logic-puzzle adventure platformer in the popular Snail Bob series. After eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christmas Day, Bob learns that Mr. Green, a Grinch-style character, has kidnapped Santa! He also learns that Santa looks a lot like Grandpa. Bob has no choice. He must go after this villain to save Christmas.
The player's main goal is to help Bob and his trusted ant friend survive a wide range of natural and enemy-created threats in the wintry forest. The main hazards across 25 levels include ice cubes that block the path or unleash winter bees, freezing air that can turn Bob into a block of ice, and various predators that can harm Bob in other ways. The final boss fight is with Mr. Green.
As with previous installments, the player must direct Bob's movements by forcing him into his shell, turning him around or speeding him up. They must use common sense, logic and simple and complex machines to open up the path. They usually need to push buttons, flip levers and perform other similar actions. That said, they also need to select an object to move or obliterate it.
Snail Bob 6 asks the player to search for stars using hidden-object rules. They can find stars blending in with the landscape or hidden behind, inside or under other objects and characters. A star might also appear on the screen during an action sequence. The player must click it before it disappears. When they acquire enough stars, they can also play four levels of minigames.
