Red Ball is an arcade-style adventure game inspired by the original Red Ball side-scrolling platformer series. The player helps a red ball and other characters conquer 30 levels in snowy, alpine environments that feature stationary and moving platforms, obstacles, traps and enemies in front of a mountain backdrop.
The player starts with the red ball. The game features gold coins for winnings in addition to up to three golden stars per level. The player directs the red ball to collect floating coins by rolling, jumping and leaping through them. They can multiply their winnings and receive free coins by watching advertisements. Once they save at least 500 coins, they can start collecting and using other types of balls to play, including a ghost ball and the heads of a snowman, Batman, a vampire, Harry Potter, Santa, a bull, an alien, members of the Among Us crew, a robot sheriff, ninjas, a crazy clown and Deadpool.
Red Ball offers both deadly obstacles and easy mechanics. The player receives three hearts that represent lives. They must keep the ball away from red spike traps, hanging icicles, rolling geometric shapes, angry, flying red-and-black boxes, spiked alien-like creatures and many other threats while attempting to reach a red finish flag at the end of a level. That said, they can direct a ball to bounce to a tier above the ground, hang slightly off the side of a cliff or wall, and use large red buttons to reveal bridges above traps and crates to reach higher tiers.
