Bouncy Dunks is a skill-based sports game that combines basketball and racket play. It features two basketball backboards, hoops and nets on the left and right walls, respectively, of a gradient black background below three down-pointing cannons. Under this area are a horizontal paddle, three red life hearts and a drop zone.
The player's goal is to use the paddle to dunk balls fired from the cannons into the hoops to score as many points as possible before they run out of lives. When they inevitably lose their lives, they replay to achieve an even higher score.
The player must skillfully direct the paddle to hit a ball into a hoop every time. If they allow a ball to fall below it without passing through a hoop, the game takes a life. The player must also ignore a dunked ball to better direct a new ball. Otherwise, the distraction can make them miss hitting and dunking the next new ball with the paddle.
Bouncy Dunks offers additional fun challenges. Bright golden stars appear randomly against the background. If the player shoots a ball through one, they win an extra five points. The game uses a variety of ball colors, patterns and types. When the player does well, it also displays fireworks or fires more than one ball at a time.
