Gem Crush is a match-3 game located in a place called Gems World that features a backdrop setting reminiscent of tourist spots in Japan. A ghost who calls Gems World their home needs the player's help. Their people have lost all of the gemstones they use for food. The player must align three or more matching gems in a line on rows and columns to collect gems. If they fail, the people won't have enough food to survive.
The player searches for match opportunities on the board. When they create a line, the game removes it to free up space for new gems to slide onto the board. The ghost character provides the player with a variety of tasks designed to make the game a lot more fun. For example, if the sun becomes too hot, the gems dry out. As a result, the player must collect as many gems as possible within a specific amount of time displayed at the bottom-left corner.
Gems Crush deceives the player at times in certain scenarios. For example, the ghost character might suddenly task the player with collecting 100 gems in 30 seconds instead of two minutes and then acknowledge a few seconds into the gem collection that the player might have difficulty with the task. That said, the game legitimately increases the difficulty level over time, including the number of gems the player needs to collect.
