Climbable Arrow, also known as Arrow Climb, is a platformer with archery game elements set in a pixelated world. The player must direct the main character to shoot brown arrows from a bow at brown-and-white, brick and stone columns and walls in front of blue skies and giant clouds to create ledges to climb and bypass deadly red spiked balls. Their goal is to help the character make it through each dangerous level to a red flag across 25 total levels.
The player initially receives 10 arrows. As they progress through each level, they receive five or more arrows per level. They must make certain that they shoot each arrow exactly where needed to guarantee that they don't run out of arrows before they reach the end of a level. For example, to direct the character to climb a wall, they must first direct it to jump and shoot an arrow at the top of the jump to create a ledge.
Climbable Arrow also features other elements common to platformers, including boxes to use as weights, buttons that perform various functions, keys that remove doors, elevator and sliding platforms, and round spring jump points. The game provides several guides along the way to explain how to use these tools.
