Superfighters, a fighting platformer with retro 2D graphics, features a group of men known as the original Superfighters bashing, stabbing, shooting, burning and blowing up each other in urban cityscape environments.
A player's only objective is to complete each level without being killed by an opponent. The player can select one of three different modes as a single player or while playing against another person: Vs Mode, Stage Mode and Survival. Each mode presents unique challenges. In Stage Mode, for example, the player faces increasingly powerful enemies and obstacles in new stages. All modes feature classic platformer features, such as dark environments, stationary and floating platforms, crates, elevators and ladders. They also feature deadly obstacles, including bot fighters, explosives and acid.
Players can use many different techniques to advance their character through a mode. Each playable character can fight with their fists, crouch, run, dive, take cover behind objects and use a wide range of weapons, including knives, guns, rifles and grenades. The player can also power up the character to increase their speed. Some gameplay is similar to real life. If the character catches on fire, the player can put it out by making the character stop, drop and roll.
How to play:
Move the character safely through an area while staying away from danger as much as possible. Use objects in each level to advance, such as ladders to climb to higher levels or floating platforms to cross dangerous acid pools. Defeat opponents and enemies by fighting with every available weapon.
Keyboard: Superfighters requires use of a keyboard. A single player uses the following keys:
Press the Left Arrow key to go left, the Up Arrow to move up or jump, the Right Arrow to go right and the Down Arrow to crouch or move down. To make selections, use the Spacebar key as a substitute for Enter. To go back or exit menus, press the Esc key.
During gameplay, double press and hold down the Left or Right Arrow key to sprint. To dive, press the Down Arrow key while sprinting. To make the character swing their fists, press the N key. For combination hits, press N repeatedly. Move close to a weapon to pick it up, and then press the M key to fire. To adjust the aim and shoot, press and hold down M, press the Up or Down arrows, and then release M. To throw a grenade, press the comma (,) key. To power up, press the period (.) key.
In two-player mode, the second player uses the WASD keys instead of the arrows and the 1, 2, 3 and 4 keys instead of N, M, comma and period.
