Bloons TD 6, a semi-idle, tower-defense game, places a player in a jungle where the enemy fights via balloons. The player must set up a defense along roads in different territories.
The game offers six top-down maps to defend (Monkey Meadows, Park Path, Town Center, Tree Stump, In the Loop and Downstream) and four modes (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert). Within each area, the enemy balloons (bloons) arrive in waves known as rounds. The player must set up their defense, which includes a regular monkey that throws darts, an ice monkey that freezes and slows balloons, a fast supermonkey that throws projectiles, tower turrets that fire spikes in every direction and cannons that turn and fire a wide blast.
With new rounds, the bloons spawn with properties that make them harder to break. Different maps also have different levels of difficulty. The player can add additional monkeys and objects to their defense and perform upgrades. If they don't have enough money from previous rounds to purchase a particular high-cost weapon, they can sell any member of the defense on the map at any time.
Bloons TD 6 is referred to as semi-idle because the game automatically runs both sides once the bloons appear on the road and approach the player's defense. The player can also set the game to automatically run the next round without the player using the onscreen play button.
