Restricted Zone is an action-shooting game with a zombie apocalypse theme. The player, as a police officer, has become stranded in a suburban area that features abandoned police cars, wooden crates, flammable barrels, concrete barriers, brown boulders, picket fences and electrical poles.
On Day 1, the avatar appears in full riot gear (mask, respirator, helmet and body armor) near a police car. They have maximum health and some experience. Fast-moving zombies dig out of the ground and run toward them. Some zombies have guns. The player shoots the avatar's weapon and receives coins and experience points for their efforts. If they do well, their avatar survives the day.
Restricted Zone rewards them with random HP medical kits. The player also gains access to the option to level up their avatar's HP and speed, the loot range and the amount of gold earned with each zombie kill. They use the money to upgrade their weapon's damage, speed and range or buy a new weapon, such as a sawed-off shotgun, flamethrower or machine gun.
The game also offers achievement rewards, known as perks, when the player reaches certain milestones, such as surviving a specific number of days, killing a specific number of zombies, unlocking all guns, or buying all upgrades. Perks include +10 damage, +1 HP regen from kills, +25 HP, additional bullets and +10 bullet penetration.
