Fireboy can't come into contact with water-based traps or ice. Watergirl must bypass fire-based traps. She also moves slower on ice. Other types of traps affect both characters equally.
As with all dungeon crawlers, the player must help the characters use a variety of simple and complex tools, including buttons, elevator platforms, levers, magic and pulleys.
