Block Blast 2048 is a connect-style merge game based on the popular 2048 sliding-tile game. The player attempts to earn the highest possible score by merging numbered colored blocks to create higher-numbered ones. They also earn coins by watching ads that help them procure access to two helpful boosters.
The player can only merge two or more identical adjacent blocks along diagonal, horizontal and vertical paths. The game doesn't connect these blocks with connecting lines. Instead, the player selects a single block in a cluster, all matching blocks become highlighted with white borders, and then the game pulls the blocks toward the spot of the selected block to create the higher-numbered one.
As with 2048, Block Blast 2048 merges two identical adjacent blocks to create a new block that's the sum of the number on each block. For example, an 8 block plus an 8 block equals a 16 block. Yet, with three or more blocks, the game treats the additional blocks differently. For example, with three or four 8 blocks, the first two blocks merge to make the 16 block, and then the third 8 block counts as a 16 block, and the two blocks merge to create a 32 block. With five or more, the player creates a 64 block and so on.
The game provides the player with a swap booster marked with double arrows and a break booster marked with a hammer below the board. The player can track their score in the upper-center area. They can track their all-time score and the bank balance in the upper-left corner. If they have an account, they can access leaderboards in the upper-right corner.
