Zumbly 2 offers players a brand new Zuma-style bubble-popping adventure in the Zumbly series. The player uses a golden, scrolled metal shooter and projectiles to create and pop clusters of mixed bubble-style marbles rolling on tracks. Their goals are to prevent the chains of marbles from reaching one or more tunnels marked by green mounds and stone arches, earn high scores and stars, and unlock new levels.
In a green clearing among brown-leafed plants, the player directs the shooter to fire the projectiles at the train. They can only pop clusters of at least three identical marbles at a time. If necessary for more efficient play and accurate shots, they can swap the main projectile, which rests near the edge of the shooter, with the secondary one.
Zumbly 2 presents many obstacles. For example, both projectiles rotate inside the shooter. As a result, the player can become confused about the position and color of the main one. Although the game starts with one track, it sometimes features multiple tracks in a tight space where it's difficult to rotate the shooter quickly. Additionally, if a track has a bridge, the player must wait until a specific section crosses over it or their projectile disappears.
That said, the game auto-pops some marbles sometimes when the player creates a gap. It rolls the forward half of the train in reverse into the back half. It also provides plenty of boosters, including an hourglass that reverses the train, a paintbrush that changes a section of the train to match the color of the projectile, a potion that allows the projectile to pop any color, and bombs and fiery meteors that take out a mix of colored marbles.
