Zuma Way of the Dragon is a bubble-popping puzzle game that features match-3 and snake elements across more than 1,700 levels. The player's primary goals are to pop mixed marble-style bubbles, earn a high score, and recreate images of dragons.
In open rock-hewn locations, the player receives a dragon head for a shooter that can hold two marble projectiles at a time. Each level contains one or more tracks in different lengths and patterns. Some tracks have sharp curves or overlap. The marbles move like a snake or train. The player pops these bubbles by creating clusters of three or more with the projectiles.
Zuma Way of the Dragon gives the player some advantages during play, such as a shooter that rotates in any direction, an easy-to-activate swap and boosters. Yet, it requires the player to shoot quickly and accurately in tight spaces and at oddly angled trajectories. It interferes with perception by moving the track marbles at varying speeds, makes it difficult for the player to position the cursor above the dragon head to perform swaps, and sometimes activates a shot instead of a swap.
The boosters include tools that temporarily freeze the movement of all marbles, turn projectiles into fire, and reverse the direction of the train. The player can only access these tools with coins they earn by shooting at floating coins or watching ad videos. That said, the game also provides free powers inside some marbles, including bombs and lasers.
