Wooden Blocks is a forest and wood themed block puzzle game. A playful character challenges the player to place single blocks and multi-block polyomino shapes on a 9x9 checkered board to create and clear away columns, rows and 3x3 subgrids of blocks.
The game features two modes (Classic and Voyage). With Classic, the player attempts to earn the all-time highest score by creating and removing block formations for as long as possible. The game makes this task challenging by increasing the difficulty level over time. The player can track their points, the difficulty level and their best score to the left of the board. With Voyage, they perform various tasks displayed on the left side, such as collecting jewels and reaching specific scores, to complete a voyage across 18 levels. During their journey, they collect images for a gallery that they can access at any time on the home screen.
Wooden Blocks looks like it's a more traditional block puzzle game at first. For example, it provides single blocks and multi-block shapes in sets of three to the right of the board. That said, it offers some unique gameplay as well. For example, every time the player places a block or shape, the game adds a green leaf to a tree branch in a top-center spot above the board. After the player fills the branch with leaves, the game provides them with an electric booster that acts like lightning and randomly strikes and removes blocks from the board.
