Wood Number Pairs is a tile-matching, wood-themed game that shares similarities with number-matching games like Number Match and Number Line Match. The player attempts to remove colorful, numbered tiles from a checkerboard in pairs. Their goals are to clear the board of all tiles, complete all stages, and earn the highest possible score.
The game presents the first group of tiles on horizontal lines across the top of the board. The player can only match tiles in horizontal, vertical and diagonal adjacent positions or at the end of one row and the beginning of another row. Additionally, they can only match two tiles at a time that have identical colors and numbers or add two differently numbered tiles to equal 10.
For example, the player can match two side-by-side red 9 tiles or a red 9 tile and a red 1 tile connected at one corner. They can match a yellow 8 tile at the end of the top row and a yellow 2 tile at the beginning of the row under it. Tiles that equal 10 are always the same color. For example, a 7 tile and a 3 tile are both green, and a 6 tile and a 4 tile are blue.
If the player can't perform a match, the game prompts them to use a plus (+) button to add the same number of tiles in the same order to the board. The player also receives access to an undo back arrow button to fix an error move and a lightbulb hint button. That said, if they wait too long to select a pair, the game automatically provides a hint.
After the player clears a row, Wood Number Pairs slides any remaining tiles upward. They receive points above the board. If they have an account, they can view leaderboard stats by using the upper-right button.
