Tile Farm Story is a tile-matching renovation and mystery game. Two sisters, Brittany and Olivia, decide to go to their Grandpa Jacob's house on old Stone Farm at the same time. Brittany wants to fix up the place. Olivia wants to take a holiday and find inspiration for her art. The player's goal is to help them complete these tasks and discover their grandfather's secrets and treasures.
The player matches tiles to earn coins and stars. With coins, they buy boosters to clear away tiles faster. With stars, they complete projects, such as renovating the house, buying a dog, building a kennel, planting trees and a garden, installing a scarecrow, and feeding livestock. The player renovates the yard first. They eventually explore and renovate the barn and kitchen.
Every tile displays farm- and nature-related imagery, such as various types of fresh fruits and vegetables and farm and gardening tools. The game presents the tiles in layers in different patterns with a tray of seven empty slots. The player must transfer tiles to the tray to create sets of three matching tiles. If they fill the tray, they must buy a continuation or start over.
Tile Farm Story offers many boosters, including one that allows the player to add an eighth slot to the tray. Other boosters include a back arrow that cancels the last move, a boomerang that returns three tiles, a fan that shuffles the tiles, and a bomb that blasts tiles. If the player needs more coins or boosters, they can view ads or play the wheel of fortune.
