Tile Clash is a turn-based, block-puzzle game that features chance and territorial clash elements. On a dark gray board with light gray pegs, the player must build a large territory with shapes made of tile-like blocks before their opponent can build a larger one. Whoever has the most tile blocks at the end wins the game.
The player can choose Player vs Computer or Player vs Player and a Small, Middle or Large board. In both modes, the player must wait for their turn when playing against their opponent.
The chance element comes from the use of dice to determine the amount of area that the player can claim during their turn. The player prompts the game to roll two dice. The resulting number determines the size of the shape they can use to claim a section of territory.
For example, a 2 die and a 4 die gives them a 2x4 shape that they can initially place on any empty grid section in their color-based area. The Blue player starts at the bottom of the board. The Red player starts from the top. If a player can't use a shape, they skip their turn. If both players skip three turns or no moves remain, the game ends.
Tile Clash complicates the action by forcing each player to position new shapes into connected adjacent spots. They must build upward or downward from the start point. A player can't use their tiles to block the other player's build until their territory's borders expand close to their opponent's territory.
